Conflict Blog

Conflict is seen everywhere, from TV, to movies, and in real life. One example of conflict that I have seen in a movie is in "Toy Story 2". One of the main characters, Woody, is taken by a guy who sells toys to be on display. Woody's friends go out to find and rescue him. In real life, conflict is everywhere. One time I had conflict in my own life is when a family member of mine passed away. It was a sad time for my family and myself. It is a moment in my life which I will never forget. This conflict, however,  can be made into a movie. Most movies has this type of conflict, with a main character or one of the main character's relatives or friends passing away. It isn't very difficult to make a movie with this conflict involved somewhere in the plot. In fact, this is one of the most common conflicts in film.

My Film Job

All the jobs in film, such as producer, director, and casting director seem really fun and entertaining. But the job that I feel that attracts me the most is the screenwriter. With this job, you have the freedom to write and chose what is on the screen for the film. You can chose the characters name, the conflict, and the dialogue. The path the film takes and the direction it goes is in control of the of the screenwriter. The screenwriter also decides where to put undeserved misfortune and the superior position to make the film shine. This job really is underrated with producer, director, and other positions on the line, but in reality the screenwriter is one of the most important positions for the making of a film. The way the film turns out is in the hands of the screenwriter.

My Review of "The Elephant Man"

The Elephant Man, directed by David Lynch, was a really good movie in my opinion. Most movies that are based on a true story never really interest me, but this movie was one that really caught my attention. I grew fond of some of the characters, especially John Merrick. The kind of person he was and how he lived his life was very interesting to me. Another thing I liked about the movie was the plot. The way the movie was developing in the story draws in the audience and makes you like some of the characters, such as John Merrick and Dr. Fredrick Treves. You begin to ignore John's deformities and start to like him as a person. I really liked how Lynch set this all up in his head and how he made it work. The final reason as to why I liked the Elephant Man is because of how the characters changed over time. They seems to treat Merrick as another person with a disease but in the end, the characters all  treated Merrick like if he was family.

My Name is John Merrick

Today was started as a good day but now it is now a bad day. When I was in my room and working on the church, I was told by Doctor Frederick Treves that I have a permanent home in the hospital. I was such good news, I was speechless. Along with that, I was given a dressing kit. It is the best thing that I have ever been given. It came with a comb, perfume, and so much more. I was the happiest man in the world. But then later that night, while I was using the dressing kit, the Night Porter came into my room and brought other people. They pushed me, dumped beer on me and treated me like an animal. When they all left, I was barely able to breath and I felt horrible. And what made it worse, was that Mr. Bytes was left there, and he has taken me with him. I don't know where we are now, I just know that I an being kept with him and we are going to have another show tomorrow. I wish I didn't look like a freak.

Welcome To My Nightmare

I don't really have many nightmares, but when I do, I wake up sweating and shaking. To me, my only fear and phobia is insects, so naturally, this nightmare is about insects. In this nightmare, I was in class when spiders and other insects started crawling near my feet. I would so terrified, but I was in class and I couldn't do anything. They started crawling on me, and it got to a point where I couldn't see my body, but no one in the class noticed. My eyesight when dark and when I woke up, I was in a forest full of human sized spiders and insects, sort of like the Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets scene. I ran, and ran, and ran, but the amount seemed endless. I tripped and when I fell, I was dragged by the insects and when I reached what seemed to be a super-sized spider, I woke up sweating and I couldn't sleep for the rest of the night.

Compassionate Science

Science and technology is something that I want to get into for the future. I don't really know in what field or career, but I know that in the future that is what I want to get involved with. Building and designing things that could change the world is something that I would attempt to do. There are people that work just for the paycheck, but for myself I would work in this field to make the world a better place. Earth is in need of scientists and people willing to work with technology so they can help with the problems this planet has. I would be compassionate for the world and working in a scientific field would show it. For example, people in Africa are suffering with the spread of many deadly diseases. Most of the world doesn't think about this too much, or even care as a matter of fact. But for the scientists that study this, they are working to help this side of the world and are attempting to give these people a healthier life.

The Future

In one hundred years, the Earth is going to seem like a whole different world. With the rise of many fascinating things, rises as well many dangerous things. Global warming and the use of gas and oil will only increase. The world population will sky-rise, and the Earth will be overpopulated with billions and billions of more people. World tensions will also be high, and war could occur, with the use of nuclear and other highly dangerous weaponry. But, there will also be many things that will be good for the rest of the world. Diseases which are not curable now will be able to be cured in the future, and with the rapid growth of technology, there will be so many more technological advances. Smarter phones, faster computers, and more will continue to rise. Faster ways of travel with evolve as well. There would also be space travel, being able to go planet to planet and explore what else there is across the Solar System. Many amazing and fascinating things will come, but also dangerous and terrifying things as well.

One Time I Laughed Really, Really Hard

One time that I laughed really hard was on 4th of July a few years ago. My birthday is on the 28th of June, so in the past, we would have the party on the 4th of July. During the party, it was late at night, and we were all cracking fireworks. We were having a fun time, when one of my uncles, who was really drunk, fell asleep on the grass. So we thought, how about we crack a firework near him and scare the daylights out of him. So we lit up a firework, the ones which make really loud noises, and placed it near his ear. When the firework cracked, he woke up so abruptly and screamed, standing up and running around in the front yard yelling like a maniac. What made it even funnier was that he peed his pants from how loud the firework was, running while his jeans were being soaked. The family and myself couldn't stop laughing and it is something that I will never forget.

Modern Times Review

Modern Times, directed by Charlie Chaplin, was a good film. One reason why it was enjoyable was the comedy. It had a lot of funny scenes that were fun to watch and made the audience laugh and smile, which at the time is what the viewers needed. Another reason why the movie was good is because of the plot and the way Chaplin made the story. Back in 1936, most of America's citizens were in a state of unemployment and depression. Chaplin knew what state society was in, so he made Modern Times based around it, to make the audience feel as if they can relate to the factory workers. The third reason is the ending, telling the gamin, and the audience, then that even though you are going through a rough time in your lives, you just need to smile, and keep your head up high.

My Thoughts on Bullying

Bullying is something has has been going on for years. Students suffer from verbal, physical, and emotional abuse. In my case, I haven't been a bully or been bullied, but I have witnessed it. It is an awful sight. The older, bigger student pushing the smaller, younger student around and putting them down. Not only have I witnessed it, but almost every student has witnessed some sort of bullying, whether it is pushing, verbal abuse, or spreading rumors. But the way I see it, bullying only happened because the bully is dealing with an emotional problem. Kids aren't born as bullies, they become into them. For example, a student can be dealing with problematic parents who don't care for him or her, and the student just wants to release all that sadness and anger, but the way they unchain themselves is by bullying another person. Another example is when someone spreads rumors or a rude comment about someone, when in reality, the bully envy's that person and is jealous of what the victim has that they don't.

My Favorite Movie

My favorite movie is Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. This movie came out about a month ago, but it is still my favorite one. One of the reasons that I enjoyed this movie was because the plot aligned very well with past movies. It fit with past movies and it went along nicely. Another reason I like this movie was because of the nature of the apes. The way that they communicate and talk with each other was something I found very interesting to watch. Another reason this movie is my favorite is because of the action. The apes learned how to fight even with the weapons the humans used. Finally, the last reason I enjoyed the movie was because of the personality of Caesar. He was a leader and father, humble and generous, but fierce and strong. He is, in my opinion, the best leader in any movie.
